Topics that I wrote about in my diary were studying abroad, deciding what to do after University, analysing my strengths and interests, working out what I want to achieve in my life. Plus, I always found it interesting to reread old entries and have a good laugh/cry at the things I wrote. The biggest benefit for me was getting more clarity for the way I feel and behave. I have personally kept a pen-and-paper diary for a long time – in some periods more actively than in others. Have you kept a diary?Īs an 'autobiographical writing' with a rich history, a diary has the main purpose to keep a record of the writer's reflections, of the 'wonderful secrets' of life (Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest). We rarely sit down and purposefully turn our attention inward. In the 21st century, browsing the Internet has become our favourite pastime. We are often so focused on tasks at work, getting kids from school, or cooking dinner. 'But.don't I do this every day?!', you will ask. Imagine if you could have a real honest conversation with yourself, listen to what YOU have to say. Bringing a new flavour to a century-old tradition
